The first in a series about my visit to Capella Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Within an hour of check in, I took a bartending class and learned to make some very lovely drinks, as well as learned some of the basics of cocktail mixing. Among the drinks I made were a watermelon mojito, a black caiprinha (contains Black Sambucca), a chocolate martini (which I thought I would dislike but found it to be quite palatable, though it can’t sit long), a mango daiquiri, and a strawberries and cream daiquiri. An hour long class, I cried a few tears when I left most of the drinks + chips and guac behind in an effort to keep myself from becoming overly tipsy/full. After all, dinner was soon to follow.
The Brainstorm @ Butcher and the Boar; 11th and Hennepin In Minneapolis. My new favorite place to get great, boozy bourbon cocktails. An excellent drink, stirred, not shaken. Muddled ice. Buffalo Trace + Benedictine are leading ingredients. Reminds me of the drink of my own creation I have always called “the drink with no name.”
